Using anchors under more tags

Okay, I am very new to this. I am trying to insert an anchor into text under one (or more) more tags. I cannot get it to work.

The point of this is to create links to show people what content has been newly added, as a key aspect of our site is “curated” content. On that note, if there is another way to accomplish that, I am very open to it. I have tried Highlight Awesomely, but it does not work in Internet Explorer and InFocus does not allow access to drop-down menus.
