    Hi,

I am using wordpress as a CMS, pages being used 95%.

Pages cannot belong to categories, therefore I am using posts as my news items under a category called “news”

I need to have a news section in the sidebar, which works fine, it simply loops through.

In order for my URL’s to be friendly, I have permalinks setup as a custome structure being /%page%

However, obviously this is not going to work with the posts?

    Any ideas?

    Example of page is https://www.jameshallamsme.co.uk

    Any advice kindly appreciated.

I have looked at news plugins, but I think this is a better way for me to implement.

    Regards,

    Gabi.

    Hi,

Ok, it was a misunderstanding from my part.

When I originally used permalinks I had real problems and ended up using %page% (to pick up page names instead of page ID) when in reality, I did not need to use this (WordPress was not able to write properly to the relevant file, as it was never created in the installation).

Anyhow, putting the permalink to /latest_news/%postname% works fine, it’s now a matter of tweaking the single.php file how I need it (not showing dates and so on) and also turning off comments.

    Nearly there.

Hope this is of help to someone in the future,

    Regards,

    Gabi.
