Using categories with the custom menu

  • Hi, I’m using the custom menu feature mostly to include links to categories and their children but also to a couple of pages. What proves time consuming and tricky for my client to maintain is the child categories. I wonder therefor if there’s a way to add a parent category to my custom menu and have it pull in it’s children (and grandchildren) automatically.

    Can anyone point out a) a way to do this within the admin that I might have missed, b) a plugin that might allow me to do this or c) a hack that would allow me to do this.

    NB: I have a pretty good handle on reading and editing PHP but am by no means programmer so please talk code to me like a newb!
