    Hello,

Does it make sense to enable browser caching for images when using a CDN?
If I understand correctly, browser cache will store images at visitor’s computer and, in such case, he will not access them on CDN anymore. Or is it?

    Thanks.

    Hi,
I was going to ask almost the same thing.
What’s the advantage (or difference) between using CDN cache or the client-side cache. Does it make sense to use both?
Another question: It’s possible to connect WPFC with a CDN provider. WHat’s the difference between connecting them or not?

    Thanks for your time

yesi you should use cdn and browser cache at same time

@emrevona Hi and thanks for your reply. Could I know if there’s something I should cache on the browser or on the cdn if I use both? Actually I’ve all the caching options enabled.

you don’t need to do anything. CDN and browser caching are not related with each other. I could not understand why you asked about it ??

They are maybe not related but they both cache the same images for instance.
So they somehow do similar job with same files.

In that sense, the question here was not really about settings but rather about logic:
    – If a visitor gets all images of a website from the cache of his own browser, why then use a CDN for those images? It seems useless.

@dsl225 it makes sense to use a cdn because the first time a visitor lands on your website if you use a cdn, content will be served more rapidly than without. Of course if you run a local website to use a cdn doesn’t make sense….it’s better to directly host the website in a local datacenter.

@emrevona since the CDN has a cached version of the website itself, I can’t understand how the cache plugin works … does it cache the fully loaded website? (so cdn cached website > browser uncaching > full website > browser website caching ruled by the plugin, or what?).

Another question: since the cdn bandwidth is premium, when a visitor “ask” the cdn server for a website, then the cdn “reply” with the full cached website, isn’t? Is there a way to serve all the cached website only for the first visit and then “tell” the cdn to serve only some cached contents which has not been cached by the plugin on the browser? Does that make sense? (and if not, please the reason)

    Thank you
    Teo
