Using Chrome with the Next Gallery Plugin the pages and posts of my site crash
-
The NextGallery plugin on my site is malfunctioning,
browsing with Chrome the site crashes. The problem is the NextGallery plug-in.
By opening a page with the galleries the site crashes and it is not possible to click on the images or browse the site.
I saw that the plugin has not been updated for two months, could this be the cause?
For now I have disabled the plugin for the problem and there are no galleries.
Could it be that the Plugin hasn’t been updated for months? Why don’t you update it?
*Let me know if I reactivate the plugin*
Let me know thanks-

In the plugin there is the notation:
The Pugin is not up to date and is not compatible with your wordpress!
A technician told me that can be the problem!I updated the plugi today, however the plugin says it is not tested with my version of wordpress!
The problem of the crash is still less, but it still does and always navigating with Chrome and explorer11!
Why if the plugin is recently updated is not tested with my version of wordpress yet?
Thanks
GiuseppeHi @directordayking,
We are sorry to hear of the encountered by you issue but it is very unlikely for it to happen exclusively because of NextGen Gallery and I am guessing that you may either have a conflict between NextGen and one of the site’s plugins ( or the theme itself ) or it may be happenign because of NextGen Gallery plugin’s requirements not being met: https://www.imagely.com/docs/requirements/
NextGen Gallery has hundred of thousands active installations and your report and you can only imagine what would have happened in the forum in case that there were an issue with the last update of it or in case of it not being updated for 2 months.
By the way – I need to note that we have released a new update for NextGen Gallery yesterday so I hope that you wouldn’t mind trying to update it then check again to see if the issue poersists in your case.
In case that the issue persists, please perform a plugin conflict check by temporarily deactivating all the other plugins ( excepting NextGen Gallery ) and switch to a theme from the Twenty series to see if that will change anything. If that fixes the problem -most likely that there is a plugin conflict on your site. Try to activate the plugins one by one testing the gallery page each time to see what plugin ( or theme itself ) conflicts.
In case that even above doesn’t help – you will have to contact your webmaster so he could enable the WP Debug mode and check the error logs to find the error code then let us know about it so we could try to help you with a proper suggestion according to the case.
Good morning,
Thanks for the reply.
In these days I have also asked for assistance to the server of my site and they did the plugin test first.
The problem is when you open an article with the galleries and mind uploading the gallery the page crashes even if you disable all the plugins as you said.
We also kept the site by deactivating the plugin for three days and without the Next Gen puugin the site works without problems.
YES I UPDATED THE PLUGIN now the problem is less, but it still is every now and then, but it is very annoying the same for those who surf the site.
But it only does it with in the browser Chrome and Explorer11
The server told me he can’t do anything because a problem with his fists has his hands tied.I also updated the plugin but it says:
Warning: this plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress.
GiuseppeI tried to activate the Twenty theme but the site of that theme is in error 500!
UghHi @directordayking,
Apologies, we already checked this link
https://www.modadivasmagazine.com/en/2020/06/19/burberry-autunno-inverno-2020-campagna-irina-shayk-reece-nelson/The Gallery and the lightbox seem to be working fine.
Could you please validate that this particular issue has been resolved?Could you please let us know if you test for conflicts in your end?
– Temporarily deactivate all your plugins except NextGen Gallery.
– Is the problem solved? Then, it was caused by one of your plugins. Please check one by one and find the one causing the problem.
– If the problem is not solved with the deactivation of the plugins, try changing to a standard WordPress theme, it could be a conflict with your current theme. On the other hand, we have already tested the plugin with WordPress version 5.4.2, and is working fine. For sure, we will escalate this back to our developers; they probably just need to adjust something in the plugin side to make that information visible in the WordPress repository.
Many thanks,
@gabyimagely “Thanks”
I changed the Ajax settings and now it does so much less! Now I’m testing with another ajax slide. We tested the plugins, it is NextGen that does not work well, the site server assistance also did the test. It’s not the other plugins!
They even told me that when the site crashes, it consumes a lot of memory.
In addition, I also have problems at the interior where I manage the photos! Maybe it’s not due to this but.
Example:
When I have to change a folder the browser continues to update the page and I have to click on the cross of the brower to continue working. Then I can’t change the name of the folders.
I can’t use: Ignore thumbnail settings. Because it puts empty previews without photos. Then I have to put the spun on NO!I guarantee you that the problem is due to the plugin.
In fact, I repeat in the wordpress it says that it is not tested with the updated version of my wordpress.
Even the server assistance says it may be due to that.
Also because it started dealing with problems after I updated WordPress and the theme.
I CAN’T CHANGE THEME .. the site goes wrong if I change the theme.
Let me know .. The server support says that we have to wait for the plugin to adapt to the new version of the updated wordpress and php.
Warning many may have this problem but they don’t notice it.
In fact, he does not always do it and now he does it less and I hope he does not do it anymore with Ajax.
PS: sorry for the translated English and the correct non-technical terms!Hello @directordayking,
Thank you so much for reporting this back to us.
We already shared with our developers a but report about that message of the plugin not being tested with your current version of WordPress. Can you try the following?
1- Deactivate, remove and re-install NextGEN Gallery (to discard any corrupted file during the update process).
2- Do you have any forced cache plugins on your site? Is that the case, please try to purge or clear that cache and test again.
3 – It really seems that the problem is a combo of the plugin and your theme. I know that it is difficult to deactivate your theme. but, could you please just try to select a default WordPress theme and test temporarily? – You can then go back to choose your theme again.
4- You can also try to activate WordPress debug mode and check if there are some error messages that you can share with us https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/Note: we do recommend performing a full website backup before testing.
hi @gabyimagely,
Thanks for the reply
I have another site and I also have your plugin, it works, I have some galleries, but it also tells them that the “updated today” Warning: this plugin is not tested with your current version of WordPress.
I will send you the link to see the screen, it is obviously written in my wp in Italian.
Warning: this plugin is not tested with your current version of WordPress.
For me there is no better plug-in than yours, as it is essential to continue publishing with the NextGen gallery.
I don’t know for the aesthetics, but also for the folders and for the order of publication and archiving, the other pélugins save the images in the Media and I don’t like it. NG saves the images in internal folders in wp, excellent and the slides are fantastic.
I answer the questions below:Can you try the following?
1- Deactivate, remove and re-install NextGEN Gallery (to discard any corrupted file during the update process).
if I deactivate and delete the plugin, do I not risk losing all the galleries loaded in the articles? After when I re-install the plugin will I find the galleries in the articles?
This was also my idea, but I was afraid of losing the published material. Do I not risk losing anything?2- Do you have any forced cache plugins on your site? Is that the case, please try to purge or clear that cache and test again.
No, I don’t have this plugin do I have to download and install it?
3 – It really seems that the problem is a combo of the plugin and your theme. I know that it is difficult to deactivate your theme. but, could you please just try to select a default WordPress theme and test temporarily? – You can then go back to choose your theme again. As I said, I tried to change the theme, but I have the problem that the site is in error 500 and I can’t do it! Because it is not online afterwards and it is not possible to see if the error continues. Then sometimes the error does not do it for a while and then comes back, even today he did so, I thought maybe resolved and then instead it was not. I will try to hear the server assitance.
4- You can also try to activate WordPress debug mode and check if there are some error messages that you can share with us
Do I do it from a plugin? Sorry but I’m not very experienced, I don’t want to cause damage. Can you give me more information about how it works?See in this link the screen of the wordpress message for the plugin:
https://www.photodivas.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/screen-tre_a.jpgI will also discuss this with the assistance of the server. But they insist that it depends on the fact that the plugin is not compatible with WP. The problem started to create it just when WP was updated!
Thanks
GiuseppeHi @directordayking,
1) You can surely delete NextGen Gallery plugin then install it new without any problem since it will not affect the existing galleries or settings. This will not cause any galleries or settings lose;
2) You don’t have to download a caching plugin to delete the cache. Feel free to ignore this step in case that you aren’t using any caching plugins;
3) Being the intermittent behavior of the issue that you are encountering – it makes me think that the issue has a server-side behavior. Can you please reach your webmaster or the hosting provider so they could check the server-side error logs and provide you with the log then let us know what are the related to the issue errors?
4) You can enable the debug mode my editing the wp-config.php file using an FTP software like FileZilla ( you may need your webmaster’s help in case that you are afraid doing this change yourself ). Here is a detailed article on how the WP Debug mode can be enabled: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/
Once done, you will have to check for the ‘wp-content/error_log.txt” after being able to replicate the issue;5) The supported WP version mentioned on the plugins’ page is a plain formality as it doesn’t pass any tests to comply and it is just being manually updated by the plugin developer manually so this simply can’t be the reason of the issues that you are encountering.
6) Also we have never heard from you a confirmation that the following requirements are being met: https://www.imagely.com/docs/requirements/
@mihaiimagely
Good morning and thank you.. Sorry if I answer now, but I was out of the office.
I deactivated and canceled the plugin and reactivated, I had previously done a test on another site less important and with less content. In addition I also changed the settings of previews and images to alleviate them.
The problem still does, even if less, we have also noticed that when it makes the error the open page consumes a lot of ram memory.
Meanwhile, I consult with the server assistance to do all the operations you recommend.
Thank you
Hello @mihaiimagely
Yesterday I activated a forced cache plugin but it did damage, even if I managed to restore it, thank God.
After the scan, the plugin deactivated all the settings and deleted all the ticks of the NG gallery plugin!ALSO we noticed that when it creates the problem the computer consumes a lot of ram memory.
At the server they say there are no errors, they see the defect on the site and I opened a ticket.
I’m in trouble, I don’t have a webmaster and then few are capable on WP, at least from what I know.
How can I do? The server assistance indicates long and difficult operations and to use programs that I don’t know!
Just for testing, in fact!
??If you want one-to-one help from our developers, you will have to purchase a membership with Imagely and start a support ticket with us directly. I am unsure that we’ll be able to help you but at least we’ll try to investigate it closer.
@mihaiimagely @imagely
Good morning,
In these days I have done various tests and also the assistance has done very thorough tests and they have not found anomalies on the conditions of the site.
They have only found some Plugins that were not updated or that could create conflicts, have now been deactivated.
They tell me that there is nothing they can do because there are no faults on their part, in fact I closed the server support ticket.
In the various tests that I did instead, and I had found a plugin not updated for a long time and therefore I deactivated it, but unfortunately the problem persists.I also removed the tick on Ajax and from the Gallery settings I cleared the image cache.
I also tried to change the gallery settings but nothing, however I noticed that I reset all the settings and start again with the basic settings and do not use the frame of the thumbnails the problem does not, or at least it does it much less and it known or not perceived!
I noticed an error, if I use the settings of the image with browser opening the image remains blocked and I have to go back with the browser and go back to the previous page of the site, in other setting with browser opening the image by clicking on the thumbnail then indexes on the Site HOMEPAGE!
Other anomalies I have in the plugin are the ones I had already written:
When I have to change a folder the browser continuously reloads the page where I am working and I must stop the page by clicking in the cross of the browser in use.@mihaiimagelyInstead if I have to change the name of the folder by clicking on the name of the folder nothing happens, the page remains stable without sending in the appropriate screen, it remains there, I keep clicking but nothing happens.
I could also buy the subscription version, but I have these errors! Then you don’t even guarantee me that you can fix the support.
THE PROBLEM DEPENDS ON THE PLUGIN .. there is an error on the tunnel.
If I can make a video screen, I have to log in with the admin profile with google and register the errors.-
@mihaiimagely @imagely
Hi,
I noticed that the problem does it much more using the FRANCYBOX image slide in Gallery Options and Lightbox Effects and using the image thumbnails with frames.
Instead changed the galleries settings without image frames and using the SHUTTER slide the problem does it very little and very rarely.Another thing if I put the tick on Ignore thumbnail settings on NO the published gallery appears without thumbnails with empty files “SEE ATTACHMENT IN THIS LINK:
https://www.photodivas.com/wp-content/uploads/screnn-luglio_1.jpg ”
The problem I have of the old galleries published on articles in 2027 and 2018 with these settings and I have this vision of the miniatures on the old articles. Until 2018 I had no problems, then I encountered the problem of miniatures.
The problem is on miniatures and light box effects! This is what blocks everything, also when the page or article containing NG galleries crashes the PC consumes a lot of ram memory!See attachment in the link: SETTINGS Ignore thumbnail settings and invisible screen thumbnails:
https://www.photodivas.com/wp-content/uploads/screnn-luglio_1.jpg
Let me know
Thanks ?-
