Using domain mapping — can I have a couple private subdomains, too?

  • I am using domain mapping on my MS. Have two domains up and working so far.

    My question… I want to have dev.mydomain.com as a development site, and projects.mydomain.com as a project site. Both are for internal use only. With domain mapping, do I simply need to tell my tech support to setup DNS records for dev.mydomain.com?? Of can I not “mix flavors” here and need to purchase a couple more domain names?

  • Yes, you can do that.

    Ideally, if you wanted a lot of subdomains off the mapped domain, I’d have told you to use a multi network plugin from the start. But if it’s a couple one-off subdomains, just map those too.

    So I just use the Domanin Mapping plugin to set these up? Or do I create a subdomain through my CPanel?
