Using link to open Master Slider

I need to use an image as a link to open Master Slider in a popup. I have tried a variety of popup plugins – all of them are causing the images to resize to the same size as the thumbnails. The slider type I am using is Slider with Vertical Thumbnails. I have checked my settings on my media – and I do not see anything that would cause this. Is there a popup plugin or other coding (I can use jquery etc) that I can use with Master Slider? This is for a WordPress website. Any advice appreciated.
