Using ‘<?php the_category()???>’ Parent vs. Child

  • I’m using the <?php the_category()???> tag and need to display only the parent category, not the child categories. Right now it displays Parent & Child.

    I searched for an answer in the forums and the codex, but I can only find info for excluding the parent category.
