Being able to update plugins on multiple sites at once has finally made me take a more serious look at JetPack; I manage 50+ client websites.

However, reading this JetPack blog post, it seems that it’s not a good idea to have all these sites under my WordPress.com login. Which presumably then means I can’t update multiple sites at once.

This comment on the post outlines the same problem.

Does anyone know if a solution to this has been implemented/is in the works, or if not, what the recommended approach is at the moment?

    Thanks!

    Hi there!

However, reading this JetPack blog post, it seems that it’s not a good idea to have all these sites under my WordPress.com login. Which presumably then means I can’t update multiple sites at once.

We make that recommendation for people who design sites for clients, then hand the keys over and don’t have any further interaction with the site. If you plan on continuing to manage your client’s sites (updating plugins, et al) – then I would encourage you to connect them to your WordPress.com account.

It’s also worth noting that this article was written ten months prior to the Jetpack Manage feature being introduced, so we didn’t have those options at the time of publication.

We have nothing on our current roadmap to revisit the connection ownership process, unfortunately. As it stands, I would suggest that you continue to establish the connection to WordPress.com to your own WordPress.com account in order to manage your client sites.

I hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any questions.

    Marking as resolved.
