    Hi David,

Thank you for the wonderful plugin. I was in search of a plugin to use to sort my images and display them in various views on frontend using tags etc.

Being a wordpress newbie, I used to insert images into galleries manually each time I added image files to my media library because I didn’t find a suitable solution I was happy with. I jumped in joy when I saw that I could use filters to select data with your plugin in such a robust manner. I love it and I’m still learning to use the plugin. Thank you!

I use Meow Gallery for the layout and Meow lightbox for display. As I’m learning, I tried some basic mla shortcodes to understand the plugin and I was able to display some galleries based on categories, tags etc.

I want to learn if I can use the data selection function of mla and use it on the meow gallery? When I convert the meow gallery to html, I see that it works with the gallery shortcode. However I’m not able to get the data selection part working. Could you point me in the right direction please?

Thank you so much for your time.

    Best,
    Rupa

Thanks for the positive feedback and for your question.

You can generate a Meow Gallery using the [gallery] shortcode as described in their tutorial:

    Meow Gallery: Tutorial

You can combine MLA’s data selection functions with [gallery] to get the results you want. Have a look at the “Support for Other Gallery-generating Shortcodes” section of the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab. There you will find more information and examples. For Meow Gallery this can be as simple as something similar to this:

    [mla_gallery attachment_tag=fauna mla_alt_shortcode=gallery layout="tiles"]

The layout="tiles" parameter is intercepted by Meow Gallery and triggers it to replace the standard WordPress gallery.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions regarding the combination of MLA and the (excellent) Meow Gallery and Lightbox plugins. Thanks for your interest in MLA.

Thank you for looking into it for me, David. Thank you for taking the time!

I am able to get the gallery working with mla filtering! I also look forward to learning the plugin:)
