Using oEmbed to grab video *and* thumbnail?

  • WP does a great job of retrieving the video from numerous oEmbed enabled services (i.e YouTube).

    But I’d love to grab the video and the thumbnail. Assuming the provider contains a link to an image, how could I retrieve it?
