• I have been searching for something on this and still no answer. I am trying to set up a website for a friend using WordPress. I know how to work WordPress and I use it for my website. For my sub-pages(like an about me or tutorials) that aren’t blog posts I use WordPress pages and have no problems. I am trying to use just regular pages that aren’t in the WordPress subfolder and use includes. I am using themes and I think this is where I am running into problems because when I direct link to the header in the current theme folder (wp/wp-content/themes/christina/header.php) I get the following error “Fatal error: Unknown function: language_attributes() in /home/sufi685/public_html/affliction/wp/wp-content/themes/christina/header.php on line 3”

I am wondering if this is even possible or would it just be easier to just make WordPress pages.

  • Read: Integrating WordPress into an Existing Site
and search wp-blog-header in this forum.

It’s much easier to create a WP Page from the existing site’s static pages. You don’t have to contend with integrating the design or php includes, which prolly wouldn’t really work too well anyway. And now that you can designate any WP Page as the WP “home” page, there’s really no excuse not to. Making WP drive the entire site lets you take advantage of its SEO friendliness; couple that with the plethora of SEO oriented plugins out there, the great contact forms, you’ll have a nice site up and running in no time. Just my two cents.

Here are some examples of WP-based web sites (not blogs):
