Using shortcodes outside the loop

Hi,
Is it possible to use the shortcodes oustide the loop?
Are there any other parameters to the shortcodes, such as post ID?
I want to show share buttons for a particular post, on a different post/page.
Can I do something like this:
[getsocial app=”sharing_bar” post_id=”99″]
?
