Using symbols in USERNAME

The core team at WordPress don’t consider the username as part of a secure measure. It is the password that makes a website secure.

WordPress version 4.5 is planned to be released with the ability to use an email address to log in. This means that you’re not only grappling with the core WordPress team, but with other large companies that adopt this login approach. Companies such as Google and Facebook.

and one of the ways I do this is
to use ^%$#@*&(!”? in my USERNAME

Thanks for your input, but your username doesn’t have anything to do with security. Not a thing. It’s always been your password that is where the security lies.

If you are concerned about it then perhaps you may want to also consider security options such as two factor authentication.

While I agree with the mods’ general ideas here, it is a bit erroneous to think that a username doesn’t have anything to do with your security. Without multi-factor authentication, it’s exactly 50% of the “things you must have” equation, albeit the half that’s typically less guarded.
