using templates in different post types

Hey all, I am hoping you can help me. I am running a theme called the7 trying to build a photography website. I’ve contacted the developer but they wont help.

this theme has several post types including photo albums, projects, post and pages.

My problem is that in order to display one set of images, I’ve got to first upload images into the media folder, then select them into the photo albums, then create a page to display the album, then create a project to display the various related albums per client, then create another page for the archive of the different clients.

As you can imagine, this is a pain in the butt and not the most efficient system.

So I could use some help in simplifying this process. If I can get the gallery template options displayed in the photo album post type, and also have the option to define the client, and shoot type; that should eliminate my need to create separate pages for each album. I’m just not sure how to assign templates to different post types or how to create custom categories.

Then I can have a series of archive pages that are sortable by client, or shoot type.
