Using The Multisite Feature

  • I just noticed this board specifically for Multisite so I am moving one of my former topics here:

    I am interested in using the WPMU feature of WordPress but had a couple of questions first…

    1. Is there any way to charge users monthly to run a subdomain blog? For example, they pay $4/month via PayPal and if they stop paying then their blog is automatically removed?

    2. Can you setup a default theme for all new blogs to be using instead of the WordPress default? Also, can you choose what themes are available to them?

    3. Where can I find themes that are specifically for people running WPMU hosting companies?

    Yes and yes.

    To make a default theme, you put define(' WP_DEFAULT_THEME', 'default'); in your wp-config.php file (where ‘default’ is the foldername of the theme you want to use).

    And to chose what blogs are available, you manage it in Super-Admin -> Themes.

    No idea about #1. And #3 … Any WP theme should work fine on multisite.

    Just use regular wordpress themes. really. There is nothing special about them.
