Using the % (percent symbol) in a post causes "Not Acceptable" error

    I’ve created several pages for my site and I was adding more content to one of them when suddenly I would get an error upon attempting to publish:

    Not Acceptable

    An appropriate representation of the requested resource /xyz/wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    I finally discovered that the error was caused whenever I would add the % (percent symbol) to my content. Even if I used the ASCII code for the percent sign, it would still give this error. It consistently has this issue. I can save and publish content if I don’t use the symbol and I can’t save and publish when I do use it.

    Any thoughts on this?

  • I’m going to suggest that you open a support ticket with your host. Be sure to include the entire error message as well as the details surrounding the suspected cause. It may just be something related to mod_security settings that they can easily help you resolve.

    Thanks, ClaytonJames. I didn’t do that first because I have multiple sites on this server that are working. But, you’re right. The server administrator had modified something that caused the issue. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my issue!
