using the PHP Everywhere plugin

Hi
How do you use this plugin as I cannot find a description on the ‘options’ page. I have tried adding php code to the right-hand side php everywhere cut-out box but this does work. I have added a file location to reference a php file but this does not seem to work. Adding a php short code [php eveywhere] followed by php code just displays the php code when the page is previewed.
