• 7/23/15 – Below is the source code that WordPress SEO (Yoast Plugin) used for their plugin operations.

I wanted other SEOs to know that by using the “Yoast” plugin you are boosting moz.com and zippy.co.uk rankings (no wonder they are top ranking websites globally)

Why would we as SEOs want our competitors link on all the websites we use this plugin on? I find this is a complete outrage.

“This is used by many WordPress features and for plugins to work properly”

ALL WordPress plugins should be internal and work properly without any assistance of external sources.

    The source code is below:

    <li id="wp-admin-bar-wpseo-inlinks-ose"><a>moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.websitesample.ca%2Ftesti%2F" target="_blank">Check Inlinks (OSE)</a>

    <li id="wp-admin-bar-wpseo-kwdensity"><a>www.zippy.co.uk/keyworddensity/index.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.websitesample.ca%2Ftesti%2F&keyword=" target="_blank">Check Keyword Density</a>

  • I’m not sure you understand what you’re seeing.

The links are only visible when logged in via admin. They aren’t visible to crawlers, users, or anyone, unless they’re logged in. They provide absolutely zero “boost” to either Moz or Zippy.

@integrityseo I’ve moved this topic to Plugins and Hacks because this is not what the Requests and Feedback sub-forum is for. Please only use that forum when you’ve a request or feedback about WordPress itself of these support forums.

As mentioned above, the links you’ve posted can’t do anything to your search engine results. Except for someone being logged in, those links will never show up. Any bot crawling your site will not see what you’ve posted.

How is this an outrage exactly? This is only visible if you installed, activated and logged in.

If you’ve a complaint about that plugin then please take it to the support forum for that plugin.

That’s really the place to express any concerns you have for that plugin.
