Using this plugin when you don't have posts yet

Hello, I want to use this plugin for my blog about dogs. Each week I am going to feature a different dog. I haven’t written the posts yet, as my site is still in the development stage. Can I set this plugin up and get a test page going even though I don’t have actual posts ready yet. I’ve downloaded the plugin, and tested it, but it appears it will only work once you have posts. If this is so, then I would need to write a bunch of posts first, then use the plugin? Please advise. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Christina
