• Hello,

Currently I am using the latest version of WordPress to run a Woocommerce store.
All of my pugins and website are fully updated to the latest available versions. I also use the StoreFront theme.

Today upon updating my Privacy Policy page, when I switch from the Visual / Text Tab something inserts the below code…

    <span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”>?</span>

Then the Visual Tab stops working.
It’s making things very hard for me to use, and I cannot edit my pages correctly. This issue effects all pages that I try to edit.

I have deactivated my plugins, yet the problem persists.

Can anyone offer any help as to how I can fix this please? It seems the more I use my website the worse it gets lol

    Thank you for your time.

  • @alexandraqb – If you are using Generate Press for your theme base then it could just be a temporary browser issue. Try using a different browser such as Chrome if you are currently using Firefox for example.

Here is a reference and fix suggestions if this is Generate Press related: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/4-9-anyone-else-having-tinymce-issues/

I am having this same problem… have tried dozens of fixes found all over the web, cleared caches galore and updated TinyMCE code, but the problem still persists even with 2017 theme and no plugins enabled. Help appreciated.

I got it this week on one post — and I don’t have TinyMCE or Woo or a plugin called Generate Press installed on the site (never did on this site).
It didn’t happen on a test post today.

I wonder if I got the code by pasting some words that a peer gave me gave while I was in Visual view. A bit of a longshot because I pasted them from a PDF he’d made but maybe the code was kind of stuck inside it.

    OR…
I’d used the built-in color feature to turn some text a color which I rarely do.

I was able to get rid of it:
In the Text view, I deleted it and then Updated the page and it went away. When I was deleting the code, then going back to Visual view and saving, it wasn’t going away.

The problem still persists, and I’m unable to find a solution.

I do not use Generate Press,
Also I have deactivated my plugins many times and none of them appear to effect this issue.

I do not use any styling just standardized font and color from my Storfront theme.

Oddly, this problem always happens when using my desktop computer, but not if I use my laptop.
I’m wondering if there is a Windows compatibility issue somewhere?

From searching on Google it seems a lot of people have this problem but no one has found a fix,
