Using Woocommerce: Cannot get Ecommerce transactions to register

    Hi. I have been able to get Universal analytics and page views working OK. Have also been able to trigger a “Goal” for orders placed.

    But cannot get Ecommerce transactions to register.

    I have set up a trigger event for an Ecom transaction in GTM (see below). I have tested and it via GTM preview and it is firing OK

    But it doesn’t show in GA (the page view does). Do I need to cofigure something else so that the order details can be captured and read by GA?

    I was capturing ecom transactions OK before using this plugin by just using the native Woocommerce integration but this is now “switched off” (tracking ID removed from WC Integrations tab as prompted by this plugin)

    Hi Ricky,

    I was checking your website but I was not able to complete an order since I can not do this without paying the order via PayPal.

    As far as I can see you enabled WC integration. The GTM container code is being shown in the code of every page so I do not think there could be any problem.

    Transactions may appear in Analytics only couple of hours after they happen. I would suggest to wait for some hours and check it again. If no transactions are reported within 24 hours I will do a test order with payment if you can promise a quick withdraw.

    I’ll let you know tmrw if I see anything being reported.

    I can certainly promise an immediate cancellation/refund of any test purchase. I shall also set up a dummy product for a penny and free delivery promo code

    Hi Thomas. No transactions showing in Ecommerce area of GA this morning.

    I have set a promo code up which is “testing”. It will work if you put a Fat quarter of White Microfleece into the cart and then apply it. It’ll reduce the price to 1p and give free shipping so that you can test OK.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately I was not able to pay the order, PayPal said:
    “The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number.”
    Maybe because I am using a Hungarian credit card?

    Can you enable the wire transfer payment so that I can complete the order?

    Not sure about why there was an issue with your Paypal. But either way have enabled wire transfer.

    Now I see: for some reason the datalayer is not populated with the transaction data.

    Are you able to edit your template?
    Could you change code placement to ‘Custom’ and put the code snippet shown on the admin page just after the opening body tag?

    The opening <body> tag is usually located in wp-content/themes/yourthemdir/header.php

    Just did a test myself but nothing in GA yet for Transaction (Goal URL present still though)

    Yes, you are right, transaction data still does not shown in the dataLayer

    OK, one more question so that I can investigate the issue in my sandbox: you unchecked everything on the admin page except WooCommerce integration?

    GTM plug-in:
    – All Basic Data, Events and Scroll are un-ticked.
    – Woocommerce and Contact From7 are ticked in Integrations tab

    Woocommerce Integration tab:
    – Google Analytics ID empty.
    – Domain name empty
    – Add Tracking code to site footer unticked
    – Add Ecommerce tracking and Event tracking both ticked

    If you require access to GTM account I can provide you the details if that would help. I am very unfamiliar with the tool as have only just started using it.
