• Hi, firstly let me explain – I have no experience of website building. However, having searched YouTube and found various ‘step by step’ guides, I decided to buy a domain form 123.reg and make a start. I have also purchased their ‘Business’ Hosting.

I have downloaded and installed the wordpress CGI script app. However, navigating the app is painstakingly slow. Often it takes over thirty seconds to even save an update. Moving form one section of the app to another is equally as annoyingly slow.

It is slow with tghe default theme and all plugins diabled, as far as i can tell, chnaging themes, pug-ins makes no difference.

How can I go about resolving these issues. I have patience, but navigation is too slow to accept – especially considering i have paid all this money for it!!

    Please help, cheers. xo

Are other websites slow to load, such as any news or social media sites you visit? That may be the Internet Provider you are using to get online. You could try running a speed test and see what the results are:

If other sites are running fine, it may be with your web host. I would recommend asking 123.reg if they are experiencing any issues or if they have any suggestions:

No, my web browsing is great everywhere else. For instance, I have added social media links on the site. When I view it, and click one of them, they open in a new tab almost instantly.

Results for my internet speed are as follows:
    + PING: 16ms
    + DOWNLOAD: 5.8Mbps
    + UPLOAD: 0.5Mbps

Google page speed insights for said website says:
+ Redusce server response time = 19 seconds!
+ Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content – Your page has 2 blocking script resources and 11 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.

I have not really made any progress developing the site thus far – it is one static home page, and that’s all! – and am considering, reinstalling wordpress through the 123.reg control panel.

Thank you for your reply – what do you consider my next step to be, please?

    Cheers.

Please excuse the lay out of it – I am learning from scratch ??

    Cheers again for the reply

Ps – I am in chat with 123.reg right now – very responsive that is!

the 123.reg representative believes the problem is that I have Windows hosting and that WordPress is better suited to Linux hosting.

A ticket has been raised and my hosting is set to be regraded.

    Cheers.
