Using wordpress before domain has transferred

  • I’ve got a client migrating from another server to ours. I’ve installed WP for him, but we wish to work on the site without being at his URL until we’re ready (normally using other CMSs I edit the livesite in the config file to tell the new install to use the IP address until we’re ready). But I cannot find a similar livesite setting in WP-config.php.

    Any suggestions?

  • Use a temporary url or set WP up locally.

    normally what i do in a situation like this is, i work on a hosting with multi-site hosting feature. like yourdomain.com/clientsite and when it is ready, i make an add-on domain and set it on that /clientsite folder and it is done.

    also, technically you can work on any fresh installation. just get his theme up and import his database. work on it and when everything is done, put it live on his host,
