• Hello,

I had someone install WordPress onto my server. I use MS Frontpage and having some difficulty mixing the 2. Based on a previous forum post concerning hte same issue, I made a quick fix by copying the html from the original .php page into a .htm page with FrontPage; however have found that the the page does not update, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for someone trying to integrate WordPress into their FrontPage? P.S. I am very technically limited ?? Thanks so much for any help!

  • My only suggestion is: Don’t do it.

Post/Page data is stored in a database. The blog’s display is determined by the php files in your theme directory. Trying to manage either/both of those in FP will just cause heartache and one messed up blog.

If you want WordPress you have to forget FP.
No, WordPress does NOT work in .html pages.
Never open FrontPage when working with WP. Period.

    EDIT. And don’t double post:

If you got an answer saying it doesn’t work… don’t push it ??

The problem is that FrontPage keeps a record of what the site looks like; if there are any changes, it reverts to its stored copy. I had this happen on a subdomain of my site – the authors wanted to test WordPress. It was working fine until they ran FrontPage. It restored the site that was stored, which did NOT include WordPress. All of the test blog was gone by one of the authors (who wasn’t notified of the test) simply opening FrontPage and connecting to the site with it.

Bottom line is what moshu says — drop FrontPage.
