I am considering installing WPSF. However, I am happy with Akismet and would like to continue using it (for now, while I concentrate on other security issues).

Will everything be OK if I do not turn on the parts of WPSF that check comments (and continue to rely on Akismet for that purpose)?

I am asking this question because of what I read in
the topic Compatibility with other security plugins

A perfect example of bad plugin interplay is Akismet + WPSF Comments filtering. I get emails telling me it’s not working when they run both. This is normal, because you have 2 separate plugins trying to fiddle comments categorization at the same time. It’s a lottery what comes out the other end, especially given Akismet is a black box.

    Hi,

Absolutely yes, that’s no problem – if you don’t turn on the Comments Filtering, then it wont touch comments at all.

I would suggest, since it’s easy to switch back, trying out the anti-spam bot feature of the plugin. Perhaps leaving the human comment spam option off, and just trying spambots to begin.

If you don’t get the results you like, no problem, you can just turn it off and turn back on Akismet.

    Hope that helps!
    Paul.
