• Steps:

    • Select Print Shipping Label for an international order
    • Enter all the necessary customs form information (that I carefully researched and entered into the old version, but wasn’t brought forward into the new version)
    • Create a new “Custom” package for the 4″x7″ envelope size that I’ve been using for the past two years with the old version
    • Choose USPS
    • Search for any possible way to ship First Class International with Tracking…
    • Give up
    • Choose DHL because I’m getting desperate
    • Choose Carrier Package out of desperation (even though I’m using a 4″x7″ envelope from Amazon)
    • Notice that now there is a small padded envelope option that’s larger than 4″x7″, but close enough
    • Choose First Class International with Tracking that now is available
    • Click the Purchase Label button
    • Watch the activity that LOOKS like we are buying a label
    • Watch that box disappear, with no error message or other indication that anything has happened
    • Wait for confirmation email that says I’ve bought a label
    • Give up waiting after 15 minutes
    • Come back and try these steps again
    • Give up and deactivate the new Shipping plugin
    • Go back through the steps that I’ve used for the past two years with the old plugin, ignoring the “Upgrade” invitation to try to get me to use the new version
    • Print the label correctly, as I’ve always been able to do

  • Hi @timthefoolman,

Thank you for the very detailed step-by-step and for bringing this to our attention. I understand you’re having a different experience than you were used to and are missing some key features for your workflow. Our developers are paying close attention to the forums for this new version of the plugin to iron out any issues that may arise. For the time being, reverting to the old plugin is a valid workaround.

Again, thank you so much for your feedback. We’ll update you once we have more details.

Hi @timthefoolman, thank you for sharing the steps. I am trying to reproduce the issue you are seeing, can you help us verify a few things, please?

You mentioned you are using a “4″x7″ envelope size”. Below is a screenshot of the WooCommerce Shipping plugin where I tried to print a USPS international label using a 6 x 6.125 x 0.25 inches envelope.

    1. Can you help us verify if you are selecting “Envelope” there please?
    2. Can you let us know what length, width and height you are using for your dimensions (in inches) please?
    3. What is the weight you have there please (in oz)?
    4. Can you verify if your “Ship to” address is verified please?
    5. When you click “Get shipping rates” with the weight you provided, you should be able to see “USPS – First Class Mail International” under “Shipping services”. If not, can you share what services you are seeing there? The shipping services here should be for “envelope”.

    Thank you.

    Hi Harris,

I stopped using the new Shipping plugin after sending my last message because I needed to ship the product and the old plugin still worked. I reinstalled it tonight, and things *seem* to be working correctly for Domestic shipments (there were multiple USPS shipping options, with correct rates), with the exception of the package weight is always 0 grams. Thankfully, the products I’m shipping are generally under 100 grams, so the USPS rates are almost always the same as if I included the envelope and packing sheet weight, since those are trivial.

However, there doesn’t seem to be any way to enter a weight for custom packaging, so for my products that ship in boxes, I’ll need to manually weigh them every time, even though the box, labels, packing slip, and bubble wrap have a fixed weight (that I used to be able to specify). When I have another international order, I’ll confirm whether or not I’m still having the issue above.

On the plus side, this version has an option for refunding shipping, which would have been very handy for a couple of customers who contacted me after I’d packaged something, and then contacted me to see if they could pay for faster shipping.

    As for your list:

    1. Yes
    2. 4″ x 7″ x .25″
    3. I don’t recall, but I weighed the entire package and entered it
    4. Yes, I always verify the Ship To address
    5. I don’t recall, but it was more expensive rates, even for domestic, and the First Class mail option didn’t include tracking. It was basically a rate for sending my family a letter—not service to ship something professionally.

    Hi @timthefoolman

Thank you kindly for sharing this information and letting us know what you’re seeing. I’ve passed this information along and we’ll follow up here with anything additional we can provide, or any further follow up.

We’ll also keep an eye out for your experience when you next ship an international order and will be glad to help further.

    Thank you!
