Utterly lost, where to put the code?

I’m fairly new to building a website, but can still change a few things with little problem. However, trying to get certain posts to appear on certain pages is leaving me bewildered. I’ve searched the forums here, could find some solutions, but when I tried to replicate them, it failed.
Where exactly do I place my code?
