    Since installing v1.8 I cannot connect to server. I’ve tried other tools, plus telnet etc and all is good with the server. Have gone over my configuration multiple times yada yada yada.

    debug notes

    Connecting via Socket
    Socket: tls://<myemailserver>.com:995
    Socket error: 0 –
    There was an error connecting to the server

    Anyone else? Help appreciated.

    Update:
    Went back to version 1.7.0 and all is good again.

    Please advise if/when updates/corrections are ready. Glad to beta test.

    thanks for all you do Wayne.

    Did you try changing the connection setting to cURL?

    It would be helpful if you clicked the Test Config button and posted the results.

    Thanks for the offer to test, but 1.8 has been in beta for several months which is why I released.

    Yes, I tried Curl

    I did do “test config”, didn’t give me anything useful, same results as debug but in hindsight wish I would have saved them.

    I actually went back to 1.7.30 (typo above, not that it matters) and that works fine.
    I’ll see if others have the same issue as me with v1.8, If not I’ll reinstall v1.8 and do further testing, but I spent a fair amount of time with the obvious stuff this morning.

    Thanks Wayne, you are appreciated,

    Please post your test config in any case. The info displayed is more about your general environment.

    If you change the connection to cURL do you get a different error message?

    Thread Starter RenoJohn

    (@renojohn)

    Well unfortunatley I can’t test curl.

    /*/*/*
    Warning! Postie requires cURL 7.30.0 or newer be installed. 7.19.7 is installed.

    Wayne if you think cURL is the answer I’ll look into updating.

    I’m guessing you have a custom version of PHP that doesn’t have curl or socket support compiled in. Is that correct?

    >I’m guessing you have a custom version of PHP that doesn’t have curl or socket support compiled in. Is that correct?

    I don’t think so Wayne. I don’t believe it’s a custom version.

    I’m going to upgrade cURL and see what happens.

    You may just need to install PHP curl support.

    $ sudo apt-get install php5-curl

    Thread Starter RenoJohn

    (@renojohn)

    update
    * upgraded CURL to 7.50.3. I

    Continued to get error with “Socket”

    ***But, does now connect to server and download with cURL***
    !!Yay!!

    –>**BUT** nothing is posting because:
    postie_get_mail: switching to html
    No ‘from’ header found

    No ‘from’ header (and yes I’ve sent from various accounts) so postie doesn’t post and sends Admin the note that the email was returned. Of course the original sender does not get the not because postie doesn’t know where it came from.

    v1.8.x May not be for me,

    I skipped a Rev, is there a place to retrieve v1.7.32?? I’d be appreciative.

    The previous version is available here: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/postie.1.7.32.zip

    Can you send a sample email to [email protected] so I can see what is happening?

    Thread Starter RenoJohn

    (@renojohn)

    Thanks Wayne. 1.7.32 installed and working grand.

    Not sure what is going on with me and 1.8.x glad to test things if you’d like.

    Thanks for all you do,

    EDIT:
    OH and I forgot to say sample sent.

    I may have found the issue. Are you using POP3-SSL?
