• As I can see from the forum the enforced implementation of reCAPTCHA v3 seems to have been a disaster for this plugin as it seems to have opened up all Contact 7 forms to spamming.

It may well be that on a site with low levels of traffic reCAPTCHA v3 will never work as the volume of submitted forms will never result in a statistically significant result on which v3 will produce a score.

Can this version be backed out or best of all allow you to choose from v2 or v3?

  • We are having exactly the same problem with our website since the upgrade to this plugin and the move to reCAPTCHA v3.

In the old version we never saw any spam but with the latest version of the plugin we are getting two or three spam messages every day.

I’m with the OP, either it needs an option to go back to the previous version of reCAPTCHA or the v3 support needs significant improvement.

I have run a request through myself and I get a value in g-recaptcha-response but when spam comes in the field is blank but the email is still sent.

I do not think that this can be right surely?

I’ve logged into my www.ads-software.com account for the first time in years to say this:
Give us recaptcha v2 back please. V3 is garbage and our inbox is getting flooded with spam like neverbefore.

I have the same problem. I updated to v3 and I receive spam every day. With v2… I didn’t. I’m not sure about how v3 works, how it controls that people can or can’t send spam, but with v2 things were better.

After updating to version 5.1 and integrating reCaptcha v3, my spam folder will overflow. Give people the chance to continue using v2.

Same here. Updated my website(s) yesterday and now I’m getting a lot of spam messages but I received 0 when I was using reCAPTCHA v2.

Same problem as anyone else, getting daily spams on my site since implementing the latest version.
I think I’m going to rollback to the previous version until the developers roll back to using recaptcha v2.

Before you do that, read that topic:
Downgrading version causing all the form resets
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/downgrading-version-causing-all-the-form-resets/

Until the author updates to fix the plugin you can download a previous version here:

    https://en-gb.www.ads-software.com/plugins/contact-form-7/advanced/

Just scroll to the bottom and use the dropdown menu to select the last version.

If you ever need to do this with other plugins, go to the main download page for any plugin and on the right hand side there’s an option ‘Advanced View’ just above the ratings.

@slowsilva Uploading the old version does not remove your forms, I don’t know how the OP in that thread ‘downgraded’ but copying over the old files will downgrade it and not touch your forms. I’ve downgraded 20+ sites and none have had issues like that.

Thank you Brendan for information! Maybe the OP deleted newer version before installing the older one..

Thanks Brandan. It works like a charm.

Is there some way to have the plugin author comment on how this is being dealt with, and whether or not there will be an option to hide that square box on our pages? It would be great if he could post a notice at the top of the forum about this, just to let us know it is on the radar.

Thanks for the information I have now downgraded to 5.0.5 and reinstalled my v2 keys and hopefully normal service will be resumed.
