The new version of the plugin doesn’t appear to be working.

In the settings page, none of the options are checked. If I check them and save, the page reloads with none of them checked again.

I’ve taken a look at the database entry in the options table and it is never modifying that – the default values a:2:{s:7:”sprites”;s:3:”yes”;s:8:”minified”;s:2:”no”;} remain and never change.

I’ve tried deleting the plugin and re-installing with no luck.

  • If you’re still having trouble with 4.01 and just want it to work as before, try this ->

    1) Go to WP-ADMIN >> Appearance >> Genericon’d
    2) Untick (deselect) Genericons Neue and Social Logos
    3) Tick (select) Legacy Fonts and click “Save Changes”
    4) Tick (select) Classic Genericons and click “Save Changes”

    This worked for me.

Like sunryzer, I can’t save settings.

“In the settings page, none of the options are checked. If I check them and save, the page reloads with none of them checked again.”

Have you tried clearing your browser cache or just a different browser?

And are you SURE you’re on 4.0.1 because yes, there was a stupid bug in 4.0 – totally my bad.

Not sure why this is flagged a “resolved”, as 4.0.1 still has the problem mentioned above, i.e. settings don’t save (in any combination).

@vanillalounge Because it does work most of the time.

That is, it works every time I test it.

“In the settings page, none of the options are checked. If I check them and save, the page reloads with none of them checked again.”

That is literally what I cannot reproduce.

If you’re having this problem, TRY either deleting the options from the DB or do an uninstall (which will do that for you) and reinstall. Something in your Database is ‘stuck’ and there’s a limit to what I can auto-detect ??

Thanks, I did that, but no luck ??

I’ll try some code speleology this week-end to see if something comes up.

(btw: does it help to say it’s installed on a multisite, not network-wide, just site by site? )

Yes! I bet it’s not fully deleting the options on all sites.

Multisite nearly always matters in debugging ?? and this is one of the few plugins I don’t use in my own multisites.

Look for the per site option genericons_options and delete it from the site having a problem. See if that works. If so, I can bang on why it’s not setting.
