    I’ve got a lot of problems with WPML and the new v7.
    In addition to manually clearing the cache, including the new file cache, I always have to open the pages translated into other languages, save them again, clear the cache for that single language, etc.

    Please buy a single WPML license and do some internal testing. I know that SG Optimizer is free, and if you want something more solid, you have to go to paid solutions (like WP Rocket), but I think that at least for SiteGround hosting customers, more control would be desirable before releasing a caching solution to the public.

    Honestly, SGO outperforms WP Rocket. We just haven’t paid much attention to WPML since it does a lot of things no the proper way and we’ve been relying on them to trigger the right hooks but we will investigate and add support to fix these issues. Since you are paying WPML customer, you can easily reach out to them. For example Divi does a lot of unorthodox things but they properly clear their cache whenever necessary unlike WPML.

    Hello @mickhele,

    We have tested the latest SiteGround Optimizer plugin with WPML website.

    When the Auto Purge is enabled, the cache is properly being flushed upon new post saved or edit for all languages set on the site.

    Thus being said, we are not able to find any incompatabilities with the plugins so far.

    It will be of a huge help if you provide us with more information of the setup you are using and exact way the posts are being updated. This way we can further inevstigate the case and provide a fix if possible.

    Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

    Best Regards,
    Elena

    Hello Elena,
    I’ve opened a support ticket with WPML about these issues to understand who can step in and make websites with WPML compatible with SiteGround’s hosting plans.

    Anyway, if you want to see immediately a bug (it’s not primary for me but it serves as a reminder that testing should be done thoroughly), set “All languages” and see the SG Optimizer error alerts:

    Thank you for the followup.

    The reported issue is not present on a fresh application with WPML and SiteGround Optimizer plugins setup. It appears there is something else which is blocking the REST API and related to the other issues you are expiriancing.

    Please provide us with mode details of how you are editing the pages and specify your website URL if possible.

    We will monitor the thread for any new information provided by WPML support as well.

    Best Regards,
    Elena

    I’ve fixed the “manually clearing cache” issue, removing the php.ini on my WP installations.
    These were the instructions included on php.ini:

    extension=imagick.so
    zend_extension = /usr/local/php74/lib/php/extensions/ioncube.so

    Can I have problems if I don’t have the extensions “imagick” and “ioncub”?

    About the problem with “All languages”, I’ve tested on a new WP installation, and it’s always there, also with only WPML and SG Optimizer/Security installed.
    Anyway, I don’t see any issues on the website, so if it’s not fixable, it doesn’t matter.

    Thank you for the provided information.

    We can assure you that the WPML was tested against all functionalities of the SG Optimizer plugin in a fresh installation and there were no REST API issues encountered. If you have an account with SiteGround you are welcome to open a support request and we can try to replicate your tests.

    The imagick and ioncube are extensions that are not set by default and require php.ini in order to be enabled. If your application works as expected with those removed, then you should not be worried. Usually, some themes or plugins may require the extensions to be enabled but those are not mandatory for a standard WordPress installation.

    Ok, I get it (later I’ll open a support request).
    The last question, if I need to activate these (or others) extensions is better to do it on Site Tools (Devs > PHP Manager > PHP Extensions) or using a php.ini file on the website root?

    Hello @mickhele,

    The WordPress forum is for questions regarding WordPress and our plugins. However, our PHP configuration is a hosting-specific question, and it will be better to reach us through our customer support channels, and we will gladly assist you.

    Best regards,
