I just released V8.08 of this plugin, which sports a new slick admin interface based on the twitter bootstrap framework, AJAX savings of options, a few new features, generous help and all sorts of goodness. I’m sure you will like it.

Since it is a complete rewrite of the plugin, there may be a few teething issues. If you find anything amiss, please post to this thread and I will take care of it ASAP. Thanks!

  • Hi,

I just updated the plugin. First thing i noticed was that it disabled the plugin after the update. After enabling the plugin the ads showed up again.

Second thing is I don’t seem to be able to access the plugin settings page. I get a Error 403 Forbidden.

my site is hosted at Hostgator. on a shared server.

Thanks for reporting this. How did you to try to access the settings page? From the menu Settings -> Easy AdSense Lite, or from the Plugins page, clicking on the link? If latter, it is possible that there is an error on the URL. I will check that again. In the meantime, please use the menu item Easy AdSense Lite under Settings.

I tried it using the Settings -> Easy adsense lite. Not really surre what is going wrong. Plugin seems to be working fine though. Cant change the settings at the moment though.

Tried it with the link from the plugins page to didn’t work either.

In this version of the plugin, there is a clean separation between the plugin admin and the frontend, which is why the plugin can work even when you cannot access the admin pages. The admin side loads the pages in an iFrame. Do you have any security plugins or .htaccess directives preventing direct access to files under wp-content?

As a security plugin I use
Sucuri Security – Auditing, Malware Scanner and Hardening

I disabled my .httaccess file for testing but the issue remained also deactivated the security plugin.

I put cloudflare in development mode to see if that would do any good but that did not help either.

As far as I can see it only blocks the Iframe. Permissions don’t seem to be the problem, In the plugin directory all files have 644 Permissions.

    *update
As for now I have downgraded to version 7.61

had to downgrade too, the plugin admin page is not visible any more……
Is there a fix for that?

    found the problem.
Any security plugin or webmaster will block direct access to plugin directory for security reasons. But this new plugin seems to need it to work….

Manojtd, If in a future update you could make it so that it doesn’t use the Iframe anymore. I think that would solve this problem. I don’t see any other plugins using Iframes. Any special reason why you did that?

How to Go Back to Non-AJAX Version

Problems with the fancy AJAX interface?

You can always go back to the non-AJAX version if you are not happy with the slick new admin page, or if the plugin doesn’t work as expected (ads not appearing on home/front page/posts, or any other kind of strange behavior). The AJAX version stores its options completely independent of the non-AJAX version. So, your original non-AJAX options are intact and untouched. Here are the steps to revert to the non-AJAX version:

    • Deactivate and delete this plugin from your plugins admin page (usually at wp-admin/plugins.php).
    • Download the non-AJAX version of the plugin.
    • Upload and activate the downloaded non-AJAX version. To install follow steps 1 through 4 in the picture linked. Go to the admin page of your blog, click on “Plugins” on your sidebar menu, select “Add New” and click on “Upload”. On some installations, you may be prompted to provide your FTP credentials.
    • Find and click on the the Easy AdSense Lite menu item under your Settings menu, and you should see the non-AJAX version.

Please remember never to update the plugin if you are using the non-AJAX version, or it will get overwritten by the AJAX version. It’s easy to recover though – just follow the above instructions again.

The AJAX version of the plugin has been removed. V8.20 has the old pre-AJAX admin interface.
