vareients being deleted/not being created

I am having a major issue with WPEC and variables.

First, I can’t seem to create all the variants of my products; locally, it will only create around 75 variants and on my host, around 400 or so. Many of my products should have upwards of 1000 variants. I thought running the generation from my local system would allow me to better control the timing out the host seems to be doing.

Any suggestions on how to create all my variants?

Second, after I create the variants; whenever I update the product, all variants are DELETED from the database.

Any ideas how to update a product without deleting the variants I just generated for a product? As long as I don’t update the product, after generating the variants, then the ones that do get created will show on the front-end.
