Hi there, customers on my store seem to be able to oversell Variable products (with backorders set to “do not allow” on the variations) and it reduces stock quantity to -1.

I don’t think it’s a conflicting plugin issue, because this doesn’t happen all the time, it only seems to be able to happen when there are concurrent requests, i.e. 2 people buying at exactly the same time.

Is anyone else having this issue as well?

    Hi there,

This issue was reported a couple of times in the past, but has since been fixed. Are you using the latest version of WooCommerce (or at least a fairly recent one)?

That said, I did also find a currently-open Github issue at the link below. Can you see if it matches your circumstances, and contribute any additional information that would make it possible to track down and squish it?

    Hi, thanks for replying.

    Yep, that’s exactly the issue.

I’ve got everything up-to-date (WP Version 5.5.1, WC Version 4.6.1) – TwentyTwenty theme and WooCommerce is the only active plugin.

It’s not just an issue with Variable Products, I can replicate it with Simple Products too.

I set the stock level to 1 and “Do not allow” for backorders, then I just open up 2 different browsers (Firefox and Chrome), add the item to cart, go to checkout, pay using the paypal sandbox. Both browsers successfully complete the purchase and my stock level goes to -1.
