    Hi,

Just noticed that when using your plugin and letting ATUM manage stock.

I have a couple of products that are variable but the stock is managed at product level not on variations level. When activating ATUM to manage stock it shows that items are in stock on frontend but when adding a product to basket it says that item is out of stock.
When checking the stock central, product has a – showing stock status and showing a zero on all variations.
When turning off the manage stock setting for ATUM everything is normal again. The stock status is OK.

Selling products that are customizable using variations. Customizations are made before shipping.

Some settings adjustment that I missed?

    Kind Regards,
    Daniel

    EDIT:

OK, now I found it. When activating “manage stock” in ATUM. All checkboxes in variation get ticked. So all I have to do is untick “manage stock” at variation level.

    Hi Daniel_N,

Thank you very much for the post.

I am glad you have found the fix, however, I really want to reproduce the issue you’ve had. What ever I do and I have tried a lot of combinations, I have never seen this happened before.

You can find video tutorials of how out of stock works in all scenarios in WC and how ATUM can assist on our youtube channel.

When you activate ATUM, we ask users to activate all managed products at product level. This is required for products to show up in Stock Central.

I understand the variable product and all variations were managed at product level after you agreed to do so and activated, however, would you tell me what stock amount did you have set for the variable product and the variations, please?

What bothers me is how can you add an item to basket that is out of stock?

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Best Regards,

    Pavel

    Hi,

Well I couldn’t add the product to basket. Product showed up on frontend as “Only left in stock” without any number. Clicking the add to cart gave me the “out of stock” notice.

When ATUM is not activated to manage stock:
    Product stock level is 6
    Variation stock is not checked

    Activating ATUM to manage stock:
    Product stock is still 6
Variation stock is checked showing up with zero stock

With product overview in backend the product show as out of stock with all the variations zero.
    Same in ATUM stock central.

With ATUM manage stock not activated:
Stock central shows each variation the product level stock amount.

    Hope this could help.

    /Daniel

    Hi Daniel_N,

Thank you very much for the info.

The situations described are logical and as it should be in the back end. Watch the 4 part videos I have made about the stock behaviours.

However, the front end is not a natural behaviour of WC. ATUM does not control how the front end behaves. We don’t have any features attached to it. The same scenario above does not happen in our staging sites. It seems some unrelated error. Would you send us an access to your backend so we can have a look at other plugins you are suing, please?

When you manage your variable product at product level and set the stock to 6, you can not add variation to basket if its stock is set to 0 and the option of MANAGE STOCK is on. It will always show out of stock.

PS: If you don’t want to see the out of stock message in your ALL Products page when variable is set to 0 and managed at product level and when you manage stock in variations, use the override switch we have developed (in settings).

    Best Regards,

    Thanks Pavel!
    I’ll check the videos.

For now I turned the variable products into simple products and using the product-addons plugin to customize the product.

In the start of getting familiar with the plugin and really like how it works out.
Right now I’m managing stock through an external database, would like to manage stock through WC (I have a lot of spare parts, product parts, parts that is not for sale any more but should be counted in to business stock).

ps. Different topic. Just bought the product level addon. Is there any chance of importing product parts/raw materials in a .csv through woocommerce import. Will it work to just specify under column name “type” “product part” or “raw material”?

    Kind Regards,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel_N,

Thank you very much, nice to hear that.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to import them yet. However, it was already requested by another user so we have moved it up the ladder of features.

We will inform all users when this is implemented.

Hope you’ll keep using ATUM and if anything comes to mind, don’t hesitate to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Pavel
