With the latest update, I’m now getting “Sorry, this product is unavailable. Please choose a different combination” when choosing a variant on products.

I have 2 variations on all products (size and color). All variations are enabled, and all sizes have a price attached. The colors do not have a price because there’s no cost to choosing a color. If I add $0 in the price field for the colors, then when adding a product to the cart makes it free. So I removed the $0 out of the color and I’m back to getting the “Sorry, this product is unavailable. Please choose a different.”

I disabled all plugins except Woocommerce, and I switched to the Twenty Fourteen theme. Same result regardless. There is no common situation when that error pops ups. One 1 product, it might show up if I choose a certain size and 1 or two colors. On a different product, it could just show up if I choose any color or size. So it’s different regardless of the product or variation.

If someone can give me some advice, it would be super helpful. Thanks!

  • Oh I mean, I can use the web developer consoles in browsers, just not sure how to tell if the ajax request succeeds or if there are javascript errors.

    PHP Version: 5.6.17
    MySQL Version: 5.6.34

Switched to twentysixteen theme and enabled debug, and am getting the 1568 line error:
Deprecated: mysql_connect(): The mysql extension is deprecated and will be removed in the future: use mysqli or PDO instead in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1568

And then went through trying to save the variations data, clicking the variations save button did nothing. Clicking the products publish button gave me these errors:

Deprecated: mysql_connect(): The mysql extension is deprecated and will be removed in the future: use mysqli or PDO instead in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1568

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1568) in /home/*/public_html/wp-admin/post.php on line 197

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1568) in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1179

And I guess that I have something to hammer out theme-wise .. this is what happens with my preferred theme (Square):

went to site and got this message:
Deprecated: mysql_connect(): The mysql extension is deprecated and will be removed in the future: use mysqli or PDO instead in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1568

and then when I try to log in I get the following:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1568) in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 893

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1568) in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 894

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1568) in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 895

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1568) in /home/*/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1179

    Any ideas?

Please tell me how this was resolved. I do not see where it was resolved.

I have worked on it for a month trying different options and the only option seems to be “simple product”.

I even added a brand new product to see if something had just gone awry. And reviewed Woocommerce docs. All the items display correctly but then the error message displays both on the item details and when the BUY button is clicked.

There are various problems and various setups in this thread and different problems have different fixes. Consider starting a new thread for just your problem. Say what it is and what steps you’ve tried so far. Please include a system report:

Hello I have this problem ‘Sorry, this product is unavailable. Please choose a different’
I have deactivated all plugins and switched to Twenty Seventeen theme, but variable products still does not work correctly.
Also, i asked to my theme autor and debug.log setup by him does not contain any entirs which could solve this issue.
So, I assume that problem lies in WooCommerce database tables.
I really need to solve this problem.
    You can check it here:

    Any help?
    Thank you

Hey everyone, I had the same issue.

This is what I did to fix it.

In ‘Product Data’ select ‘Variable product’
    > Hover over the #233 “Attributes section”
    > Click the Arrow next to the hamburger icon that appears.
    > This will open a drop-down with more features.
    > Add your Regular Price & sale price (optional)
    Save!

Hope this helps you as it did me! Feeling less frustrated. lol

It usually is missing prices yes ^

We’re aware the variation system can be confusing, even for developers, so we’re planning on doing a total overhaul. You can track the progress here https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/13086

Think I’m having the same issue as originally mentioned in this forum but I’m not seeing an answer that has helped me. I have posted 2 new variable products — the first two products since update WP in a very long time. I’m getting this message: This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
I have given the items prices etc etc. Any thoughts??

    @fetching101
Please post the url to one of your new variable products.

That would help, wouldn’t it! My apologies. And thank you, @lorro.

It looks like there are no variations set up for that product.

On the product edit page, Product Data section, Attributes tab, create the attributes for the product, for example:
Size: Small | Medium | Large
Make sure “Used for variations” is checked.

Next tab down, select “Create variations from all attributes” in the drop-down.

If you are not confident that this has been done you could post screenshots of the Attributes and Variations tabs.

It looks like your theme is version 2.2 but the latest is 2.5.5, if so consider updating. WP & WC change over time so themes publish updates to keep up.
