• Hi,

I am setting up a webshop (doing everything for the first time) and wondering why taxes are not displayed at all. Taxes are enabled, want to enter them exclusive of tax and display them inclusive on the product page and checkout page. Will use Paypal.
    Thanks,

    N.

One would need to log into your website to check out the tax settings directly – the status report alone won’t help much in this regard. Since this is an open forum where login details shouldn’t be shared, it might be best to get in touch with a web developer to look into that for you ??

As @riann says. Alternatively you could post links to screenshots of your tax setup settings screens.

    Hi lorro, thanks:
    general
    tax 1
    tax 2
    standard 1
    standard 2
    product
No matter how I change settings, there is no change on the site. It doesn’t add or remove the VAT amount, only displays incl./excl. VAT if set accordingly.
    Thanks for your help.

You have “calculate tax based on” = “customer billing address”, but this location is unknown until the customer completes the checkout billing fields and clicks “Place order” on the checkout page. So there can be no calculation until then. I can’t test this opinion because I don’t want to buy anything. Maybe you can enable PayPal sandbox briefly while you test this.

Maybe you could try geolocate, so WooCommerce has a clue where the customer is early in the shopping process.

If you enforce customer registration and login, WooCommerce will know the billing address earlier in the process. However, I think customers would not like entering their details before they have decided to buy.

There are plugins to help with EU VAT compliance for digital goods:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-eu-vat-compliance/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-eu-vat-assistant/

Are you sure you have to charge tax based on customer billing address? I thought EU rules required this only for digital products.

As a side issue, in your tax rates table, the line with * for a country is a catch-all, so it must be the last line in the table.

    Thanks, this was great help!
