Hi Anders;
Configuration actually depends on more then VC, but also VC config (functionality used). Some people can’t seem to get it working without excluding all, others can. Start JS optimization with the default config (don’t force JS in head, making sure js/jquery/jquery.js is excluded) and see what happens. If it doesn’t work enable ‘aggregate inline JS’ (warning; this could lead to cache size issues, but it’s worth trying). IF that doesn’t work look at your browser console for JS errors. Have a look at the FAQ for more info on how to troubleshoot.
VC is special, as you should differentiate between how you see it as an admin (with VC offering you page builder capabilities) and how the end-user sees it (a normal page with a somewhat heavier JS payload). It is entirely possible VC does not work OK when AO’d for you, but that it works flawlessly for your visitors. If that is the case I can point you to a couple of lines of code that disable AO for logged in users (you).
If I try enabling any optimization in AO and it doesn’t work is it as easy as just disable it and it will be as before?
you might have to clear your page cache, but yes, all will be as before.
hope this clarifies,
frank
