Venue not saving

    Venues aren’t saving properly. When I add a pre-existing Venue and hit Save, when the Edit page refreshes, it shows me my Venue plus another field for adding another Venue. Nothing displays on the front end. When I go back and just hit Update again without changing anything, the Venue disappears from my Edit screen.

    I’ve rolled the plugin back two versions, no difference. I’ve also made sure PHP is at least at version 5.6, but nothing seems to work.

    Thank you for reaching out to us.

    By the sound of it, it looks like there is some type of conflict at play.?This is usually because of:

    1. A conflict with another plugin
    2. A conflict with your?WordPress theme
    3. A template customization for?the Events Calendar that requires updating

    When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.

    A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default?WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.

    The next step would be to?go through our testing for conflicts procedure.

    Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare?WordPress installation by deactivating all other plugins one by one to see if the problem persists.

    But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
    1. Make a backup of your database
    2. Consider activating?a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)

    Hi @geoffbel,

    I had tried deactivating plugins and also switching to a different theme (a default WP theme) but I saw no difference. However, I’ve found that when I start an event from scratch, I can get the venue to save in that instance. Older events also have retained their Venue values fine. This may have been a case of one errant Event post not behaving properly, but it’s still a bit baffling why Venue of all things simply wouldn’t save on the back end, nor would it display on the front end.

    I don’t see any Events template customizations in my theme folder (this is a child of twenty fourteen with some modifications, I did not write the child theme originally as I was brought on the project later). The functions do not contain any mods for Event Calendar either.

    I’d say this is “resolved” since just starting a new event seems to work.
