Seeing that this has not been resolved, I am having the same problem. The entire site looks great but the home page is blown apart.

Creating a new Child Theme does not work. Tried it with the recommended plugin and manually.

Can you advise?

Actually, I have not solved it yet.
I am rolling back to 1.9.7 and stopping update the theme.
If you can resolve the problem, please post it here.
