Once I edit the ‘Home’ (Front Page), the one-page scrolling feature of the WP Twenty Seventeen theme no longer works. The first plugin I deactivated to troubleshoot this issue was Elementor Website Builder (Ver 3.12.1)

Is this going to be an ongoing conflict now? Do I need to find another website builder plugin?

    Additional information:
? Issue only occurs when the Page Layout is set to ‘Elementor Canvas’ or ‘Elementor Full Width’
? Issue only occurs when ‘Front Page’ has the Elementor page layout set.

    Hi

It’s possible that there may be a conflict between Elementor and the one-page scrolling feature of the Twenty Seventeen theme. However, this does not necessarily mean that you need to find another website builder plugin.
Before making any changes to your website builder, it’s important to understand the cause of the issue. In this case, it’s possible that there is a conflict between Elementor and the theme’s one-page scrolling feature.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check for theme updates: Make sure your Twenty Seventeen theme is up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated themes can cause conflicts with other plugins.
    2. Use our rollback version feature – https://elementor.com/help/rolling-back-to-a-previous-version-of-elementor/
    3. Use a different theme: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try using a different theme and see if the one-page scrolling feature works.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can try contacting the support teams for Elementor and/or the Twenty Seventeen theme to see if they can provide further assistance.

    @israelaz,

I went through several troubleshooting steps, including the ones you recommended. The first was making sure everything was updated, and then rolling back to previous versions of Elementor and the theme. There is something obviously buggy in the Twenty Seventeen theme that breaks when the page layout is changed. This is not limited to Elementor, but Elementor does cause it to break.

When I use another website builder and modify the layout for wider content, it breaks. When I apply custom CSS to set content width, it breaks.

Actually getting support to look into this is even more difficult than finding the solution on my own. So, I’m not going to waste my time trying to chase down non-existent support from either developer. The issue has been identified and clues to the cause have been shared. It’s up to Elementor and/or WordPress to decide if they care enough to fix it.

For my website, it took longer than I could wait for a response on this issue, so it was recreated using a different technique. Thank you!

    Hi

It’s unfortunate to hear that you experienced issues with the Twenty Seventeen theme and couldn’t find a solution that worked for you. However, it’s great that you were able to find a different technique to recreate your website.

As you mentioned, getting support can also be challenging at times. It’s important to assess the impact of the issue on your website and determine the best course of action for your particular situation.

If you continue to encounter issues with the Twenty Seventeen theme, it may be worth considering a different theme or tool that is more compatible with your needs. It’s also a good idea to keep backups of your website and regularly update plugins and themes to ensure that you have the latest fixes and improvements.

Currently, development (custom widgets and functions, Theme Child, custom code and CSS, BETA testing issues, compatibility issues, etc.) have to be directed to our GitHub project, where our developers will be able to assist. Kindly note that our GitHub project is not a support channel; therefore, the response times may vary. We appreciate your understanding.
