Since updating to the latest version powerpress will no longer verify the media url. It works fine with the shortcode but that doesn’t provide the download links, just the player.

This worked fine a week ago with the previous version and I have installed no new plugins or anything that could conflict with it since then. When I go direct to the media’s URL it plays in my browser, and the shortcode for powerpress has no problem identifying it. I have also tested it with an off-site URL which it did manage to verify, and I tested it with other on-site URLs which previously worked fine but no don’t work any longer.

As such, I’m pretty sure it’s an issue with the new version of powerpress. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello ts007,

What version of PHP are you using on your server? If you do not know, please go to PowerPress menu on the left and select “Tools” in the sub menu. Then on the tools page, please select “Diagnostics” that should tell you what version of PHP you are using as well as some other information such as CGI mode.

    It says:

Your version of PHP (5.5.37) is OK!

Warning: PHP running in CGI mode.

Is this the issue? If so, how do I change it?

    Thanks for your help.

Easy, we updated the getid3 library in PowerPress in version 7.0+. We have had one other user have the same issue with their site in CGI mode. We are not sure what changed, but we released the older version of the getID3 library for those who are still running older versions of PHP to use, which appears to fix the issue.

Please install and enable this add-on plugin and see if it fixes your issue: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/powerpress-getid3/
