• I’ve successfully updated 9 sites to the latest version of W3 Total Cache with no problems. The only small issue I encountered on two sites was that the orange update box with all the new details went red and gave a server warning after updating completed. I refreshed the plugin page and it disappeared, so it was only a minor glitch and nothing to worry about.

I’m running php 5.6, so do check your php version before updating as it has been noted in previous posts that this update is not suitable for versions 5.2 or older.

As a bonus, this update works beautifully with Autoptimize, and with both plugins updated, I am now getting a 100 score on GTmetrix for my sites without external javascript. For my sites using external javascript, I get a score of 97-98. Both scores are better now than before updating, so clearly this update is worthwhile.

  • I got a really nasty surprise today when a x.x.x.1 version of a plugin suddenly upgraded the PHP version requirements with absolutely no warning and my entire site was a blank screen. Marked it as incompatible with the WordPress version, because my WP runs absolutely fine on php 5.2.

I got a problem too in my site with PHP 7. Enabling W3TC messes up my site totally, disabling it reverses the mess. I’ll keep the plugin disabled until I figure out what’s going on.

    These posts dont help anyone.

We’re glad it worked so well for you, but to the astronomical amount of people that w3 has outright failed for since the upgrade don’t share your joy. These “everything is happy” type posts don’t add any value to the people struggling to find help on these forums for the numerous issues since updating.
