• It appears that that version 1.08 of Sydney Toolbox did not completely fix the problems in v1.07. I’m still getting the “There has been a critical error on your website” message from WordPress.

I get this error in my PHP error log:

[27-Jan-2020 19:34:51 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare sydney_set_import_files() (previously declared in /var/www/clients.relanet.com/kimarapyatt/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sydney-toolbox/demo-content/setup.php:18) in /var/www/clients.relanet.com/kimarapyatt/public_html/wp-content/themes/sydney/demo-content/setup.php on line 20

    WordPress version is 5.3.2.
Sydney version is 1.43. (Yes, this is old, but I can’t upgrade it at the moment.)
    Sydney Toolbox version is 1.08.

All plugins are disabled except for Sydney Toolbox.

I updated a test site to Sydney version 1.58 and that has fixed the problem. I guess I’ll update my other site to resolve this problem. Thanks.

Same story. My website became unavailable, and settings also, after update the Sydney Toolbox to version 1.08. I got some help from WP.com and restore the state before activating the module. And now, I have 1.8 installed but not active, and do not know what part of the website is affected by the module missing. Or how to restore the previous version of the module which worked fine.

    Hello,

The issue is already fixed in Sydney Toolbox 1.08, you can activate it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Kind Regards, Roman.

Nop Sydney Toolbox 1.08 leads to chrash! Can you check and fix?

Hello again. I can now confirm that after updating the Sydney theme (not PRO) to the last version, I was able to install and activate with no problem Sydney Toolbox version 1.08, so everything running smoothly and its ok.

Yess. Thanks planetariubm for your update, I did the same and it works!

    Hi Experts,

I have been wrestling with this problem for two days now!

I received an auto-generated email from WorkPress advising of the Technical Issues.

Suggested visiting the site, and then the Admin side of the side. Same result – Could not connect Error message.

I was given a link to Recovery Mode. I receive a message “Recovery Mode Not Initialised”.

Any advice on how to fix the problem with Sydney Toolbox v 1.08
I guess I need to get to the Dashboard, but how?

Many thanks for any help! Bruce

    Hello Bruce,

You can update the plugin manually without accessing your Dashboard, here is a relevant WordPress Support page:

    Kind Regards, Roman.

hey guys, I just got the same issue. See error message below:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare sydney_set_after_import_mods() (previously declared in /home/httpd/vhosts/yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/sydney-toolbox/demo-content/setup.php:35) in /home/httpd/vhosts/yourdomain.com/wp-content/themes/sydney/demo-content/setup.php on line 30

I just updated all updatable plugins and now I have this issue. How can I fix that?

I will provide you the url via pn

First update de theme and then the toolbox, it works!

Primero tienen que actualizar el tema y luego actualizar el toolbox y listo!

    Hi Roman and others,

Thank-you for the advice. Reading the manual approach of loading the updated plugin direct to the server appears complicated and risky?

The fact that the daily auto-generated emails I am receiving from WordPress with a link to the Recovery Mode are failing with a Fatal error, is there anything that can be done to make this link work and open the Recovery Mode?

I would like to consider the manual approach, as the last resort, because of the likelyhood I may create more serious problems, rather than fix the problem I have now?

Thanks in advance for any good advice!

    Cheers, Bruce

Hello @pixelem, what is your current Sydney Toolbox plugin issue?

Bruce, please remember about importance of regular backups, here is a relevant WordPress Support article:

    WordPress Backups

And make sure that you know how to restore backups. In this case it won’t be risky. Also you can create a staging site to test updates and modifications, here is a relevant tutorial:

    Kind Regards, Roman.

    Thanks Everyone!

Roman – I should have back-ups. I have never done a back-up before. I was hoping the repair was going to be easier than that!

This is now looking like the solution!

    Best regards
    Bruce
