    I just updated to version 2.6.7 and noticed a major issue:

    Even though administrators are allowed in my settings, using the REST API is no more possible. It just returns a 403 with the error message that only logged in users can access it. Also explicitly allowing REST API access in the Password Protected settings doesn’t fix this problem. This results in issues like no more being able to edit block editor related content.

    I downgraded to v2.6.6 and the error is gone.

    same problem here as well… i couldnt save any pages this morning (Gutenberg) and got a lot of REST API error messages in DevTools; then i checked the auto updated plugins, deactivated Password Protected, and everything works well.

    Is it intended that the beta has version 2.6.6? This would result in an auto-updated as soon as we search for new updates. I would love to have it as version 2.6.8-beta1 or similar.
