Version 4.0.1 product gallery missing

I updated woocommerce and suddenly all my product gallery images went missing, leaving only the main product picture. I deactivated my plugins and switched to Storefront theme but still no luck. Could you please help me figure out wether it is a Woocommerce conflict or a misconfiguration on my end. I have been running this site for over a year now without an issue.
