    Hello,

I’ve installed the last version 5.0.14. Since then all my downloads (180 pieces) show the same error in the list and cannot be downloaded (a large “download.html” file downloads instead of the correct file):
Warning: file_exists(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/wp-content/uploads/dlm_uploads/OP-02_Vyvoj_lidstva.mp3) is not within the allowed path(s): (/www/doc/www.odyseapoznani.cz:/disk2/doc/www.odyseapoznani.cz:/usr/share/php:/www/tmp:/tmp) in /www/doc/www.odyseapoznani.cz/www/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/src/FileManager.php on line 87

Pls can you help – thank you.

    Hello Petr,

    Thanks for reaching out!

It appears that the issue is related to the server’s open_basedir setting, which is a security feature that restricts access to files outside specified directories. The message indicates that the required file is not within the allowed paths. To resolve this, please either adjust the open_basedir settings in your cPanel, contact your hosting provider to disable open_basedir restrictions, or add the necessary paths to the allowed list.

Could you also let us know which version update you performed most recently? And if any other recent changes were made, like switching servers or hosting providers? This will help us identify if any other factors may be influencing the issue.

    Warmly,
    Beatrice.

    Hello Beatrice,

Thanks a lot for the reply.

The provider told me that they haven’t changed anything on the server. I’ve forwarded them your suggestions but it can take time until they do some research. Yet I need a quick solution as on my website, some 180 downloads are affected. So it is a big issue for me.

As the previous version of the “Download monitor” worked fine, I assume a downgrade to the previous version of “Download monitor” should help as a temporary measure which I urgently need. If my thoughts are right, please can you let me know how to downgrade to the previous version?

    Many thanks,

    Petr

    Hello Petr,

You can download the previous version from here , and just simply go to Plugins > Add New Plugin and upload the 5.0.13 version.

Many thanks. The?downgrade didn’t help. As I didn’t touch any settings, then the provider must have changed something in the server configuration. I have turned the issue back to them. Nonetheless, I would appreciate any other hints what else to try…

I don’t?know if the provider found anything, they won’t tell me. They did it?the quick?and dirty way – erased the server and restored it from the backup made before the problem occurred. The outcome satisfied the means –?the?downloads started working.
Thank you very much for your support.
