Version 5.0.5 breaks my site

    Tried out today’s version (5.0.5), first using ManageWP to update the plugin, and it crashed the site completely. I removed the plugin from the wp-content/plugins folder and site came back up.

    Later, manually adding the plugin, I got this message when it tries to activate:
    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Fatal error: Can't use method return value in write context in public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/sg-cachepress/core/Admin/Admin.php on line 25

    I’ve activated the “Health Check & Troubleshooting” plugin to get a diagnostic.

    WP Version 4.9.8
    Using PHP 5.4.45
    Database: 5.5.61-cll

    Perhaps I should update to PHP7x?

    That’s super strange, can you give me your domain name so I can look into it?

    I am having the same issue today. We just moved a clients site over to SG and installed the plug-in today at the recommendation of several people. Can’t active it as we get the same error:
    Fatal error: Can’t use method return value in write context in /home/gotopsi8/public_html/wikitest/wp-content/plugins/sg-cachepress/core/Admin/Admin.php on line 25

    Please, udpate to PHP 5.5 or even better 5.6 and everything will work just fine. My bad I didn’t noticed your PHP version in the first post. You can do this from the PHP Version Manager tool in cPanel.

    Сменете версията на PHP от cPanel -> Version Manager на поне 5.5 (препоръчвам 5.6) и всичко ще тръгне както трябва ??

    в пънела на wordpress ми изписва това в червено:
    SG Optimizer has detected that Memcached was turned off. If you want to use it, please enable it from cPanel first.
    А в панела на хостинга това в зелено:
    ActiveCache Current Status Active
