ok, will keep further questions here ;-))
Files that have been modified, such as in my case
    forms/location/where.php
    forms/event/location.php
    forms/event-editor.php
    forms/location-editor.php

will these need to be deleted before any upgrade so as not to over ride new files, then i guess a case of re editing new files after upgrade?

If those files were copied to your WordPress theme folder, they’re upgrade safe and won’t be overwritten when you upgrade the plugin.

hi yes sorry misunderstood what i meant. Because EM looks at these files first /themes/plugins/events-manager
will the fact they are there mean the new template files that have been modified by EM in the update
    forms/location/where.php
    forms/event/location.php
    forms/event-editor.php
    forms/location-editor.php
    be ignored
there fore i will need to delete old ones and replace the new ones after modifying and placing back in /themes/plugins/events-manager

Anything within /wp-content/plugins/events-manager/ will be overwritten during a plugin upgrade if the upgrade includes a newer version of that file.

Events Manager won’t replace any file you’re using for EM if it’s outside /wp-content/plugins/events-manager/.

yes i know so because the upgrade coming (new version) has modified files in it that i have modified within my /themes/plugins/events-manager.folder these old files will be overiding the changes in the to be released update hence what do i do.

Ok will explain again what i,m rambling on about;-)

    Currently i have version 5.4.4
I have modified files /where.php, location.php, event-editor.php, and location-editor.php all of which are in /themes/plugins/events-manager.

When the latest update is released as i understand it where.php, location.php, event-editor.php, and location-editor.php are among the files that are updated in the new release.

So when i upgrade those files will be updated in /wp-content/plugins/events-manager/ but will not touch my modified files in /themes/plugins/events-manager.

OK, so i will have the updated files but my OLD 5.4.4 files in my /themes/plugins/events-manager will over ride them, hence origianl point will these need deleting and me modify the updated files

in theory they should still work, so you could keep them as is. I think those are ok but we can’t check your specific situation on here.

I advise you compare these files and if you don’t have major modifications, use the new template and migrate your changes onto these new templates.
